Position Summary: The New York City Department of Education (DOE) is the largest school system in the nation, with nearly 1.1 million students and approximately 75,000+ teachers in over 1,800 schools.. The Senior Director of EduStat within the Office of the First Deputy Chancellor directs the organization's strategic progress monitoring and continuous improvement process. The Senior Director will drive coherence by collaborating cross-functionally and communicating with stakeholders about EduStat. The Senior Director will inform the organization's instructional programs, policies, and process improvements across the Department of Education. The Senior Director will elevate organizational values by engaging stakeholders in information sessions to further discuss the process and expectations and provide guidance, and will oversee research to measure the impact on schools. Performs related work.. Reports to: Executive Director, EduStat. Direct Reports: EduStat Managers. Key Relationships: The Office of the First Deputy Chancellor, Continuous Improvement Team, Executive Superintendents, Superintendents, Borough/Citywide Offices, Chancellor's office, Chancellor's Cabinet, Office of Policy and Evaluation, and school communities.. Responsibilities. Sets and manages the priorities that support the effective delivery and implementation of the strategic progress monitoring and continuous improvement process for the DOE system.. Oversees the planning processes to improve the coherence and effectiveness of organizational strategies for the strategic progress monitoring and continuous improvement process.. Builds coherence by communicating with internal stakeholders about the EduStat purpose, process, and practice. Elevates values by engaging stakeholders in information sessions to further discuss the process and expectations and provide guidance.. Partners cross-functionally with other central offices, Executive Superintendents, Superintendents, Borough/Citywide Offices, and senior leadership to ensure a collaborative process for engaging multiple stakeholders in continuous improvement to support all schools.. Creates central coherence and opportunities for schools to hold central accountable.. Analyzes and supports instructional policy and strategic planning to strengthen team workstreams and ensure alignment with broader office, Division-wide, and Agency-wide goals.. Presents program findings at various internal venues and works deeply across DOE teams to build a connections at all levels for the work.. Manages program budget, including all consultant partnerships and workstreams, and event planning and execution.. Ensures robust representation and active participation in the continuous improvement process by liaising directly and cultivating relationships with central teams, and Borough/Citywide offices.. Oversees research to measure the impact on schools.. Oversees the Continuous Improvement Managers.. Qualification Requirements:. Minimum. Must currently possess a New York State Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL). Please note: We do not accept internship certificates.. Preferred. Strong organizational skills and have spearheaded both the planning and implementation stages of multiple projects; commitment to meeting deadlines.. Firm understanding of process improvement techniques and experience applying these to make organizational changes. Knowledge of learning and development metrics.. Strong strategic thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively identify key issues and risks.. Experience leading significant cross-functional initiatives in diverse organizational settings.. Ability to work under pressure and navigate an environment that is extremely high-paced with projects under tight and changing deadlines.. Excellent and effective communication skills, including the ability to write well and make clear, concise oral presentations and written reports.. Commitment to outcome-based accountability, data-driven decision-making, differentiated instruction, and continuous adult learning as drivers of improved student outcomes.. Commitment to inclusive and equitable programming; prior experience working with diverse communities and an understanding of intersectional oppressions.. Certifications in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Accelerated Root Cause, or Transactional Lean..
