Responsibilities

Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Medical Assistant with Corizon Health:

  • Monitors patient's vital signs.

  • Implements orders for diagnostic lab tests according to site policy and The Joint Commission and ACA standards.

  • Maintains inventory of supplies.

  • Assists RN or LPNs as needed in the medical unit within scope of practice.

  • Documents in SOAP format all health-related encounters for patients.

  • Records EKGs as directed by nurse.

  • Assists physician with minor procedures.

  • Maintains and cleans medical unit/equipment on a daily basis and as needed

  • Works in conjunction with the nurse to maintain daily duties required to run the clinic in an organized fashion.

  • Assists with maintaining SENTRY and CorrecTek recordkeeping.

  • Obtains specimens as directed and in accordance to policies and procedures within the scope of practice.

  • Utilizes infection control techniques in a consistent manner.

  • Attends mandatory monthly staff meetings.

  • Collects data for Quality Improvement programs, as assigned.

    Experience & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Completion of a medical assistant program from a vocational, technical or career school.

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a health care setting, preferably correctional health care.

  • Maintains BCLS.

  • A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.
