The Director, Operations, Waltham is responsible for achieving operating productivity for the site in accordance with sales requirements and within the financial guidelines as related to all Capital and Expense Budgets, inventory investments, staffing and human relations standards. Performance of duties brings incumbent in contact with the local city government, insurance inspectors, federal and state inspectors and heads of other companies providing services to the site.

Has the responsibility for manufacturing products for distribution in various forms as well as overseeing the direction and execution of the site. Makes decisions relative to production and raw material and WIP inventory investment, local distribution suppliers and worldwide product services, engineering projects affecting operating efficiency and product launches, staffing and finance. All operations must meet standards and policies related to employee safety, working environment and quality / regulatory directives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plant Safety, environmental and sustainability compliance. Ensure plant is in cmpliance with all local and federal/regional regulations Cntingency planning for site. (Emergency response and business continuity)
  • Global Service Levels for all products produced or procured at site
  • Plant profitability as measured by Gross Margin Key cntributing factors will be driving te annual cost savings program, and managing manufacturing assets t minimize COGS It is understod that some portion of this metric (ASP) is not controlled by the Ops lead Annual expense and capital budgeting respnsibility for site Clloborates with Corporate Procurement to drive annual material savings programs
  • ROIC for site as it relates to utilization of manufacturing assets Inventry (RM & WIP) Prperty, Plant, and Equipment assets. Submit justificatins for site related manufacturing CapEx to enable SBU strategy
  • Meet monthly FG inventory build plans Ensure all resurces needed to achieve buld plans are in place staff, machinery, facilities
  • Insure product quality and cGMP compliance

  • Education : Requires a BS/BA degree in a technical discipline including Chemistry, Packaging, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. MS or MBA degree is desired.

    Certifications/Licensing :

    Six sigma certification would be preferred.

    Years and Type of Experience : A minimum of fifteen (15) years related experience is required with at least 5 years as a plant level Manager, as well as general knowledge of cGMP and OSHA/EPA/safety regulations.

    Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities :

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and working knowledge of ISO 9000, cGMP requirements and manufacturing costs is required. Equivalent combination of education & experience will also be considered.
  • Good understanding of Lean / 6? principles
  • Strong problem solving skills Emplys a methodical approach based upon objective data
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking, writing and listening)
  • Knowledge of financial principles as they apply to manaufacturing Demnstrated ability to develop operational budgets
  • Ability to develop sound business cases to justify large CapEx investments.
