Facilitator for the Boston Innovation Hub team to identify, evaluate and deploy external capabilities and create ways to advance assets in the fastest and most cost effective ways.

Main Responsibilities

Professional and Educational Experience

  • In cooperation with the platform/project leaders own and facilitate scientific search, evaluation and implementation of external capabilities.
  • Liaise with the procurement lead to speed up negotiation and contracting processes.
  • Liaise with the quality and alliance leads to assure highest quality and compliance with outsourced providers/services.
  • Alliance management (performance monitoring) of ongoing collaborations/partnerships/fee for service contracts.
  • Participate in pre-competitive/competitive consortia/philanthropic and government sponsored initiatives, etc. with the focus to create value for existing projects and special platforms.
  • Identify alternative funding opportunities (grants, partner funding).
  • Support of engaging external KOLs to give expert advice to drive knowledge transfer into the units (advisory board meetings, etc.).
  • Assist with end-to-end strategic sourcing of goods and services for TS/PDU to assure attainment of best service and value for the assets, and assuring vendor performance against agreed upon expectations.
  • Responsible to oversee and manage outsourcing/partnership activities.
  • Independently build-up strong scientific network with universities and research institutes and foster academic collaborations.
  • Understand the asset and business requirements and translate into strategy for appropriate selection and engagement of external collaborators and vendors.
  • Assist with bringing the best options for vendors and partners on the table and facilitate a structured and agile selection process that satisfies the business needs in a cost effective manner.
  • Manage effective price negotiation and efficient contracting that enables rapid progression post selection of vendors while protecting Gr nenthal from the most crucial risks in any partnerships.
  • Serve as key interface with external CROs on an on-going basis to ensure adequate performance management and commitment to the business (cost / quality / timelines) are being met.
  • PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics or related scientific discipline with > 5 years experience in pharma.
  • Proven expertise (> 3 years) in setting up and managing outsourcing and external partnerships successfully in a highly virtualized R&D setup.
  • Expertise (> 3 years) with adjacent areas like alliance management, procurement, quality assurance, auditing etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise in successfully compiling grant applications and ways of alternative funding.
  • Deal negotiation and closing experience skills demonstrated.
  • Fluent business English language skills.
  • Broad international & intercultural working experiences.
  • Broad experience in selecting and managing external suppliers for in- or outsourced activities.
  • Proactively develops and maintains business intelligence of external partners and forms active relation.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High energy person with passion for swift delivery of tangible results, able to cope with and surpass organizational viscosity.
  • Up to 30% of national and international travel will be required for this role.
