-SUMMARY:
-The Accounts Receivable Specialist responds to inquiries from parents and students regarding student accounts, processes and balances all disbursements of the Alternative Loan Program, bills and maintains third party accounts, processes refunds, adjusts student accounts and assists in monthly billing. In addition, they would also learn the Out of School Accounts process and under general supervision assume duties by placing accounts, late fees, billing, Will be responsible for learning and administering the Federal consolidation process including certification of loans, drawing in federal funds and posting accordingly, and other duties as assigned
-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
-Processes third party invoices and payments; Process refunds on a weekly basis;Serve as back up to Out of School Accounts Manager; Process and balance the Alternative Loans in conjunction with Financial Aid; Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
-GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
-10% Responds to inquiries from students and parents concerning third party accounts

20% Processes Refunds

5% Processes and balances Alternative loan program in conjunction with Financial Aid;

20% Processes all third-party Invoices and payments, including ROTC; Company Reimbursement, SACM, Access VR, Chapter 31 VA, Catholic Health and Niagara Falls Memorial Nurses, 529 plans.

45% Certifying, drawing in federal funds, and back up to Out of School Manager;
-REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-Ability to read and comprehend various forms, documentation, files and information in the department. Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to be able to perform the duties of this position. Proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to: typewriter (if applicable), calculator, computer keyboard, computer software applications, copy machine and printer. Knowledge of accounting principles as it relates to student accounts. Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone. Ability to perform all of the above essential job functions for a minimum of a five to seven hour shift with one hour unpaid meal break, without a significant risk of serious injury. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
-ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:
-The functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, typewriter (if applicable, computer software applications, calculator, cutting, labeling, and taping involve extensive wrist and hand movement. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others
-QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
-A high school diploma required, Associates degree preferred. A minimum of two years experience performing similar tasks is required. Accounting and loan experience preferred.
