Summary of Duties:
The Security Engineering and Operations team, within Enterprise Security, seeks a highly motivated and skilled Senior Security Engineer to become part of our great University. Enterprise Security provides security services for all of The Ohio State University while operating under the direction of the University wide CISO and the guidance of the University CIO. In this role, you will support the Intrusion Detection & Incident Response (ID-IR) services for the enterprise. You will be part of the team responsible for the implementation and operation of ID-IR Operations services for security issues reported to or detected by Enterprise Security on behalf of the OSU community. You will act as technical lead for the research, analysis and resolution of security incidents and investigations. You will assist with implementing the strategy and direction for a cohesive service that enables University users and units to do their daily duties in a secured manner. Duties will include operations, on-call support, service delivery responsibilities, assisting with leading technical service design and assisting with developing and updating procedures with documentation, implementation and operation.
You will report to the ID-IR Team Lead within Enterprise Security. As a member of the team you will: Provide senior technical support, management and administration of the ID-IR Operations Service as part of a 24/7/365 service; Design, develop, implement, and operate ID-IR Operations Services for university applications and systems; Manage system documentation and run books; Define and Maintain SLAs, and performance KPIs; Plan and coordinate testing changes, upgrades and new services in current and future environments; Develop and maintain the monitoring and reporting for the assigned applications; Responsible for problem management activities such as issue resolution and root cause analysis.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree, or an equivalent combination of ID-IR, Security Operations, Security or Risk work experience and education; hands on experience in ID-IR Investigations and Operations; 5-8 years of general IT experience (preferably in ID-IR or Security Operations) and/or 4-6 years of demonstrated experience in security, security operations, or risk roles; ability to organize and prioritize to meet established deadlines, requiring multitasking in a fast-paced environment, with outstanding attention to details; excellent verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of InfoSec best practices for monitoring and threat intelligence integration into ID-IR procedures; excellent problem solving/analytical skills as well as knowledge of analytical tools and process automation, best practice approach toward technology efficiency/effectiveness; ability to establish and communicate security concepts, risk, and controls to a wide range of higher education and business audiences with varying levels of technical and security experiences; experience with system administration, networking, and protocol analysis; experience with and knowledge of logs, including syslog and Windows event log; experience with investigations/forensics tools.
Desired Qualifications:
CISSP, CRISC, CISA or other relevant security certification; Splunk experience, including ingestion queue, methodologies and Splunk searching; experience with Regexes; Git experience; scripting knowledge and experience, preferably in python.
Target Salary: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 Annually
