Job Details:

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous, professional assistance to visitors and staff. Answering incoming calls.

  • Ensure strict compliance with established procedures related to urgent actions are properly implemented. Complete various log entries and forms.

  • Operate fax machine, computer, closed, circuit video monitoring equipment and public address system.

  • Identify employees, visitors and check badges and issue temporary badges. Conduct random inspections.

  • Control vehicle access to facility and use a vehicle reservation system for staff use of lab vehicles.

  • Make security checks and report safety and fire hazards.

  • Receive and document after hour meal deliveries.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

  • Required Qualifications

    High school graduation/GED. Demonstrated communication skills and ability to pay attention to detail/produce accurate work. Must be flexible to work varied shift assignments including nights and weekends. Ability to use common office equipment. Applicant must be able to walk up/down stairs to make security checks. U.S. Citizenship. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, job offer will be contingent on selected applicant applying for access to classified information within 14 days of job offer and receiving at least interim access to classified information within 10 days of the application being submitted. If interim access is approved as described, employment must commence within 30 days of approval for access. Eligibility for access must continue without interruption during employment in this position.Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    More than one year experience as a guard or police officer. Formal training in law enforcement. Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.

    An agency designated by the federal government handles the investigation as to the requirement for eligibility for access to classified information. Factors considered during this investigation include but are not limited to allegiance to the United States, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, drug involvement, the likelihood of continuation of such conduct, etc.

    Salary Range

    $28,000-$29,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.

    Working Conditions

  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
  • May work in all weather conditions.
  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • May work around electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Use of manual dexterity.
  • Climbing of stairs.
  • Lift and moving.
  • Work Shift

  • Variable shift assignments including weekend, overnight and holiday shifts. Shift work will include shifts at the Lake Travis Test Station.

    Employment Eligibility:

    Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers.     Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
