Business coordinator for the Laboratory of Medical Zoology (LMZ) fulfilling various clerical and financial responsibilities. LMZ includes the popular TickReport service, which provides a public tick testing service to individuals and agencies, as well as contract testing of collected ticks and research into tick ecology and tick-borne disease. The business coordinator serves in the public-facing office of the lab and represents that TickReport service to clients and other stakeholders.
* Coordinate incoming tick test orders, manage receipt of mail and courier packages, and communicate with clients about status and results of testing via phone, chat (IntercomTM), and/or walk-in visitation. * Manage contracts and payments from subsidizing partners (local, state, federal agencies and various private entities). * Reconcile payments (cash and checks) to tick testing orders. * Provide clerical and record-keeping activity pertinent to lab operations, including purchasing, travel, safety trainings, and personnel records. * Coordinate with webmaster to maintain updates for web page and e-commerce resources. * Support timely and accurate reporting of results to individuals and partner agencies (e.g. Local Boards of Health and external testing labs). * Under the supervision of the Program Director, prepare financial reports and calculate cost of lab operations to support budgeting operations. * Other duties as assigned.
* Work collaboratively and effectively to promote teamwork, diversity, equality and inclusiveness. * Work in partnership with colleagues within the CNS community and across the campus to support the Dean's strategic priorities. * Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the College of Natural Sciences.
* Minimum of one year of full-time experience in an office setting or equivalent * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Good organizational skills and attention to detail. * Experience with spreadsheets, including formulas/functions, pivot tables, and sorting/filtering data. * Strong software experience, including database software, as well as word processing, PDF creation, email and mail merge functions, etc. * Customer service or other public-facing office communication skills. * Ability to problem solve. * Willingness to accept instruction and embrace lay understanding of the lab and its procedures. * Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with persons of diverse backgrounds and levels of education. * Capable of working as part of a team to provide laboratory service to public subscribers. * General science knowledge.
* Associate Degree in a business related field of study strongly preferred. * Business administration and/or finance experience strongly preferred.
Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, schedule may vary (37.5 hours per week)
