Job Summary

The Associate Director of Online Communications is responsible for managing and strengthening the university s online brand recognition across the schools, colleges, academic departments and administrative websites and digital communications. Responsible for overseeing and directing revenue-generating web development projects. Identifies and executes best practices for web content delivery. Works with campus clients to organize and develop online content tailored for specific target audiences to assist with meeting student recruitment goals. Exercises independent judgement, with associate responsibility for the timely delivery and quality presentation of online communications to external and internal audiences.

Essential Functions

  • Provides co-leadership with the Senior Director of Online Communications to provide project management for all web development and programming projects submitted to University Communications. Leads the online communications team in developing online design standards and repeatable development processes to ensure consistency in university-approved branding and ADA web compliance.
  • Manages online communications team to ensure competitive, accurate and timely content presentation on the university gateway website. Directs the online communication team in working with schools and colleges, academic departments, centers and institutes to effectively tell their stories of academic excellence and research by providing expertise in organizing and optimizing content delivered in well-designed websites.
  • Assumes leadership of all online communications staff when Senior Director of Online Communications is absent. Regularly attends meetings with campus leadership regarding the creation of institutional-level online communications initiatives.
  • Responsible for providing digital analytics to university schools and colleges to assist them in making informed decisions related to online engagement and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of institutional websites and digital components of online campaigns to support the university s strategic goals.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor s Degree with 7 years experience in designing, developing and managing large scale websites.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Drupal content management system.
  • A minimum of 5 years managing, organizing and editing website content to support content management system development specifically in Drupal to optimize content presentation for optimal display on various desktop and mobile devices.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience with the ability to lead and direct the work of other team members.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; follow through on tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize goals and formulate independent decisions regarding procedures and operations.
  • Experience with usability testing for websites and working knowledge of ADA-web compliance guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

Prior experience working in a large public research university.
