Job Summary

Under general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Equal Opportunity, the Investigator will effectively investigate alleged violations of campus non-discrimination policies, including discrimination, harassment, and related retaliation. The Investigator will provide trainings to the campus on University policies and procedures relating to preventing and responding to reports of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Will be assigned to work under the direction of other senior staff on complex cases.

Essential Functions

* Perform intake of informal and formal complaints and recommendation of necessary interim measures.
* Conduct impartial fact-based investigations including scheduling, witness interviews, evidence reviews, and drafting of investigative reports.
* Maintain all records and documentation associated with complaint investigations.
* Work under the direction of senior staff and other experts on complex investigations to ensure prompt and thorough resolution of complaints.
* Deliver training on university policies and procedures relating to preventing and responding to reports of discrimination, harassment and retaliation.
* Build trusting and collaborative relationships with university constituencies;
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

* Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of demonstrated experience conducting investigations relating to allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and interpersonal violence utilizing trauma-informed practices, or Master's degree in related field or J.D. with at least two (2) years of demonstrated experience
* Knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws, including Title IX, ADA, Title VII, etc.
* Knowledge of the principles of conducting trauma-informed investigations
* Ability to manage multiple, on-going caseload of reported and complaints filed under university policies and procedures
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
* Demonstrated application of judgment based on experience and knowledge
* Discretion, good judgment, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
* Experience working with diverse populations
* Exceptional levels of professionalism and tact
* Experience in providing trainings relating to discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct and retaliation

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

* Experience in conducting investigations within higher education and/or a unionized environment

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Typical office environment.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Salary Information

Salary commensurate with experience.
