Vanderheyden is seeking a Certified Teacher Assistant / Aide to work under the supervision of a certified Teacher in our 853 school. Assist classroom teachers in the performance of their teaching functions by performing thoseNon-teaching dutiesotherwise performed by such regular teacher of teachers. [Education Law, Section 3009 (2) (a)]
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
+ High School Diploma/Equivalency required
+ Experience in school setting preferred
+ Certified Teacher Assistant must maintain certification as per NYS requirements.
+ Teacher Aide should be in the process of obtaining the NYS CTA certification.
+ Maintains current certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
+ Knowledge on assisting students with disabilities or special need
+ Demonstrated Classroom management skills preferred
Abilities and Working Conditions:
+ Must be available to work a 40 hour work week
+ Must be able to lift 25 pounds
+ Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time
+ Must have a valid NYS driver's license
+ Must be able to perform restraints and maintains TCI certification
+ Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally population
