Vanderheyden is seeking a Social Studies Teacher to teach students at our certified 853 school. The Teacher is responsible for preparing lesson plans and instructional material based on NYS standards. Evaluates and records academic progress of each student. Maintains and follows the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavioral Health Support Plan (BSP) for each classified student.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
+ Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred
+ New York State Teacher certification in Social Studies grades 7-12
+ Experience with at-risk youth and/or youth with special education needs preferred
Abilities and Working Conditions:
+ Must be available to work a first shift, 36 hour work week
+ Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
+ Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.
+ Ability to deal positively with changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
+ Display a positive, professional and proactive attitude to accomplish quality work that is in line with the agencys mission statement.
+ Seek opinions, alternative viewpoints in decision making. Understand and respect the expertise and experience of others, appreciate the different views, and the perspective and limitations of other individuals.
